I am thrilled you stopped by! I am an avid scrapbooker and spend all my free time creating my scrap-dungeon. Of course, that's when I'm not at the dance studio with Dolly, reading and drinking diet coke or planning my next Disney vacation. I would love to talk to about anything under the sun and you can contact me about my blog at cuttleyc523@rogers.com.
I discovered these super cute pictures from 2009. They star my darling Dolly (Adriane) and her good friend Sarah (My Bff's daughter!) while we visited in Downtown Disney. Thanks to the Say Cheese line from Simple Stories (and Two Scrapbook Friends for this Design Assignment!)
I love the happy feel for these smaller photos and the large banner pieces showcase the photos and bring colour to the design.
The little video finder sticker is backed with a trasnparency (I love this!) and mounted on photo squares for depth.
My title is cut using the Cameo and I used a black pen to doodle little dots so it didn't look so white. The little Mickey Mouse heads are super cute and act as my hidden Mickeys!
I used my old Dymo labeller to journal and add so retro feel to the design. Overall I love this design of tow of my favourite Goofy girls! Until next time, keep doing what you love!
This month, I used Say Cheese from Simple Stories as my Design Team Assignment from Two Scrapbook Friends. It really worked to inspire and get my mojo flowing. The palette of this was perfect for so many layout ideas and while I did scrapbook a few Disney designs, I was also inspired by my fellow Design Team member Shelby to create this design of me! For our September Craft Challenge she challenged us to scrapbook about ourselves. (You should join us for October's challenge by Jayne. It's a gorgeous colour challenge!)
I began with some splattered paint in palette colours and a photo my BFF took of me at a party. he layers of colour, a chevron sticker and some stitching add some visual interest.
Those stitched parts were actually printed on the patterned piece and I just went over them with the sewing machine. Simple Stories is an amazing company..so intelligent about Scrappers needs. The title is designed using red stickers from the matching sticker sheet and a script font cut with the Cameo in SNF Lollihop.
I used a journalling stamp and a black marker to HAND WRITE my journallig. Yes. I know. You can't believe it. But there it is for posterity! I hope you are inspired and keep doing what you love!
Yesterday I received some teaser pictures from our family photographer Angela Smith of Waterloo. It is always like Christmas when they appear in my email and it immediately gets my mojo going. This photo of Rich and I makes me so happy. After 26 years as a couple it really shows that we are still in love. (Isn't Angela a magical person?)
In addition to a great set of pictures, I discovered a great sketch at Stuck?! sketches. I decided to play along and I created this cleanly simple design (using some donated DCVW paper and last fall's Simple Stories line).
These papers really brought out the orange in my sweater and the fall colours of the leaves. I loved the brown and blue combination too (Thanks to Jayne at TSF for a great colour challenge combo!).
The little tabs are pulled from several old sticker sheets in these matching shades.
Finally my title is SNF Lollihop and cut with my Cameo. It really speaks to how I feel about my marriage. Thanks especially to my hubby Rich, who loves me unconditionally and noticed something special about my photo right away!
Most of you who know me know I love Disney. (Perhaps with the passion of 10,000 fiery suns!) Oddly, I never scrapbook my vacations there and most specifically myself while on those vacations.
When I received Say Cheese by SIMPLE STORIES as my Design Team assignment from Two Scrapbook Friends, I dug out my favourite Disney pics and began scrapping.
This design features a picture of ME standing on the corner of a well known street in Hollywood Studios Disney World in Florida. In the back ground you can see the palm trees and The Tower of Terror (which I do not ride!) What I love about this spot is the vintage Hollywood feel and all shops and that it leads to my favourite ride Rock 'n' Roller Coaster featuring Aerosmith, Every time I stand here it gives me a little happy feeling and I certainly wanted to capture that feeling.
This line does a lot of the work and the colour palette is perfect for Disney (As well as other photos) and I chose a star piece of patterned paper to reflect the Hollywood feel. I also used a circle template and traced a circle on the white background and sewed over it in black. I added the little stickers around the circle to create flow and draw your eye to my photo.
The little bits of black washi anchor the focal point too. Finally the little sign/title came right from the HUGE selection of patterns available in this line.
I hope you are inspired to dig out your Walt Disney photos and get scrapping! Until Next time keep doing what you love to do!
Today we launch our Around the World crop at Two Scrapbook Friends! There are so many great challenges going up at our blog! to inspire you to create and get some of those scrapbook pages completed. Here's mine:
Did you know that the world's surface is 72% water! In Canada we are blessed with oceans on three sides and a multitude of lakes, rivers, streams and even Niagara Falls (one of the World's Natural Wonders). So I thought it fitting that we be challenged by this amazing natural resource.
I challenge you to scrapbook about a body of water. Be creative. Be inspired by the water around you. In order to enter a design in this category it must:
1. Must feature a LAYOUT about a BODY OF WATER (lake, stream, ocean, pond, falls, pool, swamp, sea). 2. Must be created brand new for this crop (no recycling). 3. Must feature a word or two about the body of water and why it's worthy of making the grade on your design.
My design features a not-so-good photo of my daughter and her two BFF's at Port Elgin beach. While you can't see their faces you can tell who is who and the water just shines with the heat of the summer day. Every summer the girls head up there and enjoy each other's company.
I think the painted swaths and the clouds
with the sweet banner immortalized their youthful spirit and the feeling that carefree summer feeling.
I used We R Memory Keepers StoryBook line here with some cork letters to imitate the sandy beach. The final touches were the the sparkly sequins to imitate the sparkle on the water.
Stop by the TSF blog and check out all the requirements and thanks for stopping by! I hope you'll find time to play along!

Our challenge this month comes from the very talented Cathy Harper. Here's what she had to say in her very own words: "I want to know what inspires you to create. As I was driving
home the other day from my trip back to Black Hills, I saw a really cool
billboard...clouds, the sun, and a few hearts. I immediately thought
how great the design was and how I could transform it into a card or
layout.(No, I didn't get a picture of it as it was the week of the
annual Sturgis Bike Rally and no way was I pulling off the side of the
interstate with all of that crazy traffic.) Even the other day, as I was
walking through Target, I saw a couple of cute Baby gift bags that had
great design principle that I could use as inspiration to create with
too! Then it hit me that this would be a great challenge for my IE
teammates. We recently had Sue's challenge where we were inspired by
another teammate and lifted their style..but I want to know what else
inspires you besides other designers cards and layouts. Are you a
Pinterest addict like me? And find great design ideas there or in a
magazine with a brilliant ad!? Find something inspires you, pin it or
take a photo and create your work from there...you must include a photo
of your inspiration and a link (if there is one) with your project for
the challenge!"
I must admit that as we go along the challenges get more and more challenging. It is a testament to the concept of Inspiration Elevator that each and EVERY time the challenge makes me SWEAT a little bit. It's true and this one was no different.
So what inspires me? The hard part is that I am inspired by so many things in my every day world it is hard to put my finger on just one way I like to get my mojo flowing. In this day and age of blogging and Pinterest, it's easy to see the design work of others and see little bits and pieces I want to incorporate it into my my own designs. After some chatting with Ann and Joanne, I realized I could pare down my creative process and share with you the big focus of my inspiration: Art, in general, and this artist in particular. Julie Jilek is a stunning artist whose choice of colour and flowing lines always catch my eye. It is her abstracts that appeal most to me but she is a portrait artist and a landscape artist too. (I didn't feel it appropriate to post her work here but please use this link and check her out.)
As I mentioned, it is Julie's use of colour in this painting that got me motivated. Here's my final design:
I added washes of colour and blended some shades to match my artistic mind's eye and some watercolour shades using my honey comb template. I then dried the background with my heat tool and added some bits of magenta in flower shapes with little black accents.
I also added some dry brush white to added pops for dimension. I also added some old colour-on-colour rub ons.
Finally I used a great font for my title in black (HaloHandletter) cut on my Cameo. I also added some AUTHENTIQUE word stickers in teal as my sub-title.
I think this photo of Adriane (a selfie you know) really just shows off her Mona Lisa smile.
I love the final finished design..it stretched me and it does reflect how art really does influence my own creative work. Thanks to Julie for her intense and gorgeous works of art. I hope you will stop by and see what the rest of the incredible Inspiration Elevator designers have created:
If you feel inspired to play along with my challenge this month, please share it using the linky tool on our Inspiration Elevator blog and/or our Inspiration Elevator Facebook page. We'd LOVE to see what you made!
Until next time, keep doing what you love.

It was up to me to issue the challenge this month and I thought I was being very clever when I said: Part of growth is learning new techniques. And I do mean NEW. Sometimes we are afraid to try something or get in a rut..but for the August reveal I am asking that you find a technique WITH a video and include the link in your post. Learn something new. Share where you learned it and then share what you learned and your creation. I hope this is challenging for you...it might take some time to think about! You do not need to make your OWN video just share the one you used to create your technique. If possible be sure to get permission from the maker of that video so we can be respectful!
When I conceived of this challenge, I hadn't really expected that I would have such a hard time finding a technique I was willing to try but wasn't TOO afraid to try. I have techniques I love already on my pagesbut have been stuck in a creative rut of late. While searching YouTube and Pinterest for scrappy inspiration, I discovered Limor Webber's Art Mixed Media video. (I attempted to contact Ms. Webber but could not find an active email address..so it is with respect and awe that I use it as inspiration here for my own creation.)
What I loved about this video was that it was fast forwarded and put to music. Ms. Webber did not feel the need to be-labour the process with too many (or any words!) What also caught my eye at first blush was the RAINBOW gelatos but it was the highlighting and low lighting that sold the finished project. I hope you will find a few minutes to watch the genius that is Limor Webber.
I also took some inspiration from a cool kids site by Valerie. Her art project for modern art can we seen here. My kids loved it (it was surprisingly easy and cheap to do) and I so wanted to give it a try. It occurred to me to use both techniques to create something new!
Here's how I implemented the Gelatos and blending techniques of Ms. Webber and Valerie's the modern art technique.
It was very freeing to create like the kids but use some grown up techniques with my Aquarelle gelatos. I technique I will continue to practice.(You can see how the drying caused the colour to be uneven..perhaps a larger brush? more colour..Obviously practice is required!)
So here it is..the final product.
I like how the modern art represents Adriane's love art and how colourful her personality is.A little zig zag stitching in several colours anchors the mat to the black background. I layered a black and white photo over it as I felt a colour one would compete with the bright background.
I also chose a colourful title in differing fonts and colours. I am loving the sparkle.
I chose to right a little pom to her and once I lid it out on the design it looked dull so I added a few doodles. I am not sure I like them much..what are your thoughts? Too much? out of place?
Hmmm...
Overall, this challenge was very enlightening and somewhat freeing. I hope you will stop by and see what the rest of the incredible Inspiration Elevator designers have created:
